Hello everyone… I am so excited to be able to report that I have found a Phone App that actually works GREAT for testing many gold and silver bullion coins!
It is an android app called “Bullion Test”.
This App tests the following coins:
- 1 ounce American Silver Eagle
- 1 ounce silver Buffalo, flat edge
- 1 ounce of silver Buffalo reeded edge (Sunshine Mint)
- 1 ounce Liberty silver
- 1 ounce African Wildlife Elephant
- 1 ounnce silver Philharmonic
- 1 ounce Australian Kookaburra
- 1 ounce Australian Koala
- 1 ounce Australian Lunar
- 1 ounce Chinese Panda
- Swedish 100kr commemorative
- Swedish 5kr 1954 to 1971
- Morgan and Peace silver dollars
- 1ounce gold Krugerrand
- 1 ounce Australian gold Kangaroo
- 1 ounce American gold Eagle
- 1 ounce gold Vienna Philharmonic
- 1 ounce gold Lunar
- 1 ounce gold Buffalo
- 1 ounce gold Maple Leaf
- Double Eagle gold coin
- 20 Frank gold coin
- British Sovereign gold coin
The app also tests for generic silver coins of .999 purity with a diameter of 36 to 42 mm. You just enter the diameter of your coin in the Apple automatically calculate what its resonance frequencies are.
The app cost $3.09 with no add-ons required. This is an incredible value for something that is so accurate. You can now test “on the road” for any of these coins to make sure that they’re authentic. This App is amazing! The App comes as a free download with a test for a 1 ounce US silver Eagle. If you want to be able to test the other coins in the list, you need to buy the full blown App for $3.09. (Did I mention what a BARGAIN this is???)
The App measures the audio frequencies of the coin when you tap it with a hard object or “PING” it with your fingernail and compares the audio frequencies to known audio frequencies of authentic coins of that type.
The App is really simple to operate. What you open the App you’ll see a screen with a menu at the top. Going from left to right across the screen, you will see a pulldown menu to select the coin that you wish to test. When you touch the pulldown menu and select one of the coins you will get a picture of the front and back of the coin along with the diameter, the weight, the purity, the precious metal content and the thickness of the coin.
When you have selected the coin you wish to test you then hit another button on the top menu bar in the pulls up a screen that will have a series of lines on it indicating what the frequencies should be if the coin is authentic. You then balance the coin on your finger and tap it (or ping it) with a hard object. The frequencies then show up on the screen and you either get a checkmark indicating that it is authentic or an X mark indicating that it is a fake. It’s that simple folks!
I was a bit skeptical since I had less than remarkable results from similar Apps so I tested the US silver Eagle, a 1 oz silver Maple, a 1 oz silver Australian Kookaburra, and the 1 oz Chinese Panda and everything received a check mark indicating that the coins were authentic. I then tested a fake 1 oz Chinese Panda and the App gave me an X mark indicating that the frequencies did not match and that the coin was a fake.
I cannot say with enough emphasis what an invaluable tool this is at such a great price…. only $3.09!!!!
The ONLY issue with this app is that it’s only available on the android phone at this time. I’m still looking for an app that works as good as this one does for the iPhone.
